The City of
Ashburn has an opening for a Skilled Laborer.
-----General manual work in various ground and other maintenance activities.
Work is performed under direct supervision. Performs a variety of public
works maintenance and construction tasks. Loads and unloads heavy materials
from trucks. Picks up trash along roadsides and other areas. Performs
heavy manual labor such as: digging, lifting, spraying, etc. Moves equipment
and large bulky objects. May drive vehicles and operate light equipment
occasionally. Uses tools and equipment common in public works operations.
Treats the public and other employees in a respectful and courteous manner.
Adheres to safe work practices and follows safety polices and rules.
Complies with all Personnel Policies and Department regulations. (These
essential job functions are not to be construed as a complete or all
inclusive. Other duties may be required and assigned.)
The City of Ashburn has
an opening for a Heavy Equipment Operator.
-----Skilled work in the operation of the assigned heavy equipment.
Duties include performance of manual laboring tasks. Operates one or
more of the following most of the work day on an assigned basis but the
employee must show proficiency in operating all of the heavy equipment:
Motor Grader, Excavator, Jet Truck, Dirt Pan, Compactor, Bulldozer, Backhoe,
etc. Occasionally operates gasoline or other powered machinery such as
cement mixers, air hammers, compressors, pumping machinery and saws.
Washes, cleans and gives routine first level maintenance to the equipment.
Performs manual laboring tasks as assigned, such as patching, shoulder
repair, ditch cleaning, tree trimming, bridge repair, head wall construction
and other duties. Must have a valid Commercial Drivers License. May be
assigned to operate light and medium equipment on a temporary, Emergency
or as needed basis. Treats the public and other employees in a respectful
and courteous manner. Adheres to safe work practices and follows safety
policies and rules. Complies with all Personnel Policies and Department
regulations. (These
