City Grants Youth Resource Center In the late 1990s, the City of Ashburn saw a need for a center dedicated to youth development. With the support of established programs around the county, the City of Ashburn was able to obtain a $500,000 Community Development Block Grant in 2000 to build a center that could accommodate such programs. Since its completion, the City Youth Resource Center has given many of these programs a home which is easily accessable to the children who participate in these organizations. The City Youth Resource Center is also a home to a police substation, which shows the City's dedication to community based police departments. Youth Resource Center Pictures Pate Avenue Drainage Project In 2002, the City of Ashburn received a CDBG to assist in the construction of a storm water drainage system the neighborhood that surrounds Pate Avenue. The resurfacing of Washington Alley, Pate Avenue, Shealy Circle, Shealy Road, and Tipton Street was also included in this grant. CDBG funds totaled $500,000 with a $90,000 match from the Georgia Department of Transportation. Read the Report on the project: Fire Fighter's Assistance Grant Over the past few years, the City of Ashburn Fire Department has received numerous grants to improve the quality of fire protection provided to our citizens. These grants include funds to purchase a new fire truck and the equipment which outfits this truck. These grants and the equipment that they have purchased has helped to improve the city's ISO rating, which is used determine the amount of home insurance that a homeowner pays. |
